Training
Using the experience and knowledge gained from the long-running
Seal Life JIP, MERL have developed a 2 day course for engineers.
The objective is to teach the fundamentals of elastomer technology
and its role in sealing applications. Successful courses have been
held in Aberdeen (2002) and for specific companies (e.g., Baker
Oil Tools, Statoil and companies in other sectors).
|
|
1. Seals
polymers, design considerations, selection, properties
2. Seal failure - loss of sealing force
modes, (thermal, chemical, fatigue), diagnosis
3. Seal failure - liquid environments
liquid interactions, hostile chemicals, leakage tests
3. Seal failure - gas and multi-phase environments
gas interactions, explosive decompression
5. Thermoplastics and composites
materials, properties, flexible pipe |
The course can be held at partner sites or at MERL. |
