MERL specialises in all aspects of non-metallic (polymeric) materials technology for oil & gas applications. The use of polymers offshore for reasons of cost, weight reduction and flexibility is increasing. At the same time, operational demands are escalating - for example, higher pressures and temperatures in deep water fields - raising the importance of the materials selection/qualification process. With a design life of 20 years common for downhole (HPHT) and subsea equipment, the ability to control the acceleration of polymer performance in the laboratory, for life prediction purposes, is a vital requirement.

     


The MERL focus is always on the application requirements and company staff can bring vast practical experience to bear on problem solving, materials selection/qualification, modelling, etc.
