Such bearings are employed in the construction and engineering sectors to isolate
buildings and structures (base isolation) from the effect of ground motion
caused by earthquakes, ground-borne vibration and noise and to provide compliant
connections for rigid structures to mitigate effects of fatigue and expansion
movements. These bearings are also used in other industries also for vibration
isolation, such as flexelements in the oil & gas industry or hubs in the rotocraft
